The origins of blackjack are not entirely clear. Several countries claim to have invented this popular game. Some historians claim that a blackjack-style card game was played in 1570 in Spain. Other sources speak of a similar card game played at the French court around 1600. Certain is that an American manufacturer came up with the name Black Jack and it soon spread all over the world. Blackjack is played against the bank. In order to win, players must score better than the bank. The winner is the player who manages to get closest to 21 points. Scores of 22 point of higher shall not count. Players have to place their bets before the game starts. They choose the desired amount and place in the designated betting areas. After that the bank deals the players two cards face down. At that point, the banker himself only has one card. After calculating the value of the two cards in their hands, players need do decide whether to pass or to apply for a new card. This is a repeating decision to make. Basically players are allowed to ‘collect’ an unlimited amount of cards.
